Attendance And Discipline

FROM THE DESK OF PATRICK MURPHY,

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL/DEAN OF STUDENTS

REMINDERS FOR BOTH STUDENTS AND PARENTS:

SAFETY - EVERYONE'S CONCERN

·         The Berryman Parking Lot is CLOSED to two-way traffic from 7:00 - 9:00 AM.  Please, for the safety of student and faculty, use the front U to drop students off.

·         Students should use the sidewalks when walking to and from school!  Because a snowfall narrows the street (making less room for cars to pass one another and also diminishing the driving visibility and stopping distance), the street is a dangerous place to be at any time.

AFTER HOURS

·         Students are not allowed to loiter on school grounds or in the building after dismissal except for the following reasons:  club meetings, sports practice, after-school help with faculty member, or use of the fitness center.  Late buses are only for students with acceptable reasons.

TAKE "NOTE"

When a student is absent from school it is the responsibility of both the parent and student to account for that absence by:

1.      The parent or guardian notifying the school before 9 AM on the morning of the absence using the parent alert number 362-8249.

2.      The student submitting an acceptable note to the homeroom teacher (on the day he or she returns to school) from a parent or guardian giving the date and reason for the absence.  Any unexcused absence will be considered a truancy and disciplinary action will be taken.  Excessive unexcused absences will result in denial of course credit pursuant to the new attendance policy.

DROP-OFFS:

Students should check the Main Office drop-off box frequently for forgotten items such as lunches, money, books, gym clothes, etc.  We are not always able to notify students of drop offs.  We are not responsible for items not picked up.
